El concejal Ambientalista Marcelo Serafini de Gobernador Gregores, denunció ante Medio Ambiente y Minería de Santa Cruz, un derrame de líquidos cianurados, producido en Minera Triton - yacimiento Manantial Espejo a pocos kilómetros de Gobernador Gregores, la mañana del viernes 27 de Enero de 2012.
La muerte de un minero Jujeño en un socavón, el pasado 21 de enero en la empresa Cerro Vanguardia en Puerto San Julián, sumado al accidente en el yacimiento San José-Huevos Verdes (Minera Santa Cruz) el pasado 2011, donde un operario también perdió la vida tras caer en un pozo de ventilación, y los múltiples accidentes ambientales que provoca la joven mega explotación minera en Santa Cruz, plantea según el Concejal, “un alto costo que deben pagar los santacruceños y su tierra”, por una actividad que siquiera nos permite financiar nuestra provincia.
Es la tercera vez que Minera Triton tiene un inconveniente serio en el funcionamiento de su planta, y esto merece total atención. En 2011, la minera estuvo tres días con producción detenida por incidentes con equipos de manejo de compuestos cianurados. El accidente ambiental de Cerro Vaguardia con el derrame de pulpa cianurada; todos ellos ocurridos en muy poco tiempo para las estadísticas de la corta vida de mega explotación minera en Santa Cruz, es a esta altura un “llamado de alerta” para los funcionarios provinciales, confirmó Serafini.
Dos muertes, y un sinnúmero de accidentes ambientales de los que han tomado estado público; ya que muchos otros son considerados “comunes” y no se dan a difusión, representan “un costo muy alto para nuestra provincia, que no alcanza siquiera a financiarse con la extracción de oro, plata, petróleo y gas”.
Esto nos lleva a replantearnos a los argentinos en general y en particular a los santacruceños, seriamente el modo de extracción minera, repreguntándonos si es que alguna vez nos preguntamos, cual es el costo de realizar minería a cielo abierto y con cianuro en Santa Cruz, que se vende al mundo como Patagonia Pura. Donde está la ganancia, si nuestra gente muere y el agua y el paisaje se perjudican.
Es necesario modificar de manera urgente, la legislación vigente sobre minería y los ingresos que percibimos por la explotación de un recurso “no renovable”, porque el riesgo es alto, la velocidad de extracción acaba los yacimientos en tan poco tiempo, que los obreros, no logran pagar ni su auto, ni su casa, ni los estudios de sus hijos, sino sufren antes, algún percance que los inutilice de por vida.
De esta manera el Concejal Ambientalista Marcelo Serafini, aseguró que la ciudadanía en general, debe continuar discutiendo y reclamando ante sus funcionarios electos, la toma urgente de estado de conocimiento, para provocar un cambio inmediato en el tratamiento de esta cuestión, apoyando la pueblada que llevan adelante los Riojanos, que no cede ante argumentos de la corporación minera, ni la corrupción establecida con funcionarios y sectores del estado.
